Funday Sunday

Woke up sort of early and decided to head out for some breakfast, and then a trip to Kensington.  For those who don't know, Kensington is hippie central here in Toronto: a mish-mash of every kind of store front you can think of.  Fish mongers, cheap handbags, bakeries, cheese shops, pubs...you name it.  Right in the heart of Chinatown, so you know what I am talking about.  Every big city has a Chinatown.

I was ready before Dave for once.  I also hate waiting, but I have patience. Sometimes.

Before breakfast, so before coffee.  I look like I haven't slept in ages.  I think that workout last night caused some damage man, because I am feeling rough today. Hungover, even though I didn't drink.

A picture perfect day.

My eye colour seems to be reflecting on the inside of my glasses.  Weird.

Waiting for the subway to come, I started feeling sick.  Not sure if it was the coffee (stupid coffee!) or the food at breakfast.  But, I will survive!

Love it when the train is outside.  Pretty rare for it to be on the West end.  It's mostly underground.  Guess who is claustrophobic and doesn't like being in enclosed spaces with no exit?  This girl.  It's cool. I get to practice my calming down skills.

Walking into Kensington.  My picture taking skills sucked balls today.  I apologize. Believe me when I say that Kensington is an awesome place.  Whatever you think you don't need, just go to Kensington.

We bought a hanging lamp for our living room.  I had to carry it around like this all day.  Yes, Dave was a gentleman and offered, but I am a gentlewoman and said it was ok.  I think 15 strangers told me how awesome it was before we got home. Except for one girl with tattoos all over her neck.  She demanded to know asked me how you changed the lightbulb in it, only she seemed offended that she couldn't figure it out just by looking at it, and therefore I was the one she wanted to punch by default.  I pretended like I didn't know either.  Probably the smart thing to do.

This is the kind of thing you get out on the street in Kensington.  I love it.

Ah yes, the Hot Box.  When I first moved to Toronto I started smoking pot every now and then (I was a hardcore stoner as a teenager but stopped in my late teens), and this is the place to do it.  They have a patio covered with ivy and knick knacks and things out back, and that's where everyone goes to smoke a joint.  I am pretty sure the cops know what's going on, but tend to leave people alone about it.  At least I think that's how it works.  Hope I didn't blow anyone's cover.  I don't smoke pot at all anymore, so I would feel like a loser going in and sitting on the patio.  Everyone would spot the square.  Cool place to be though!

Dave got himself a pretty sweet back pack.  I think the old Chinese lady working there fancied him.  He does look dapper in his new back pack.  Now he can give me mine back.  Oh right, it's a piece of shit now so I need a new one.

This is essentially what every store in Kensington is like.  Traffic jams galore.  But everyone is super nice and doesn't mind.  I always feel like I am going to knock something down because I am a bull in a china shop.  I break everything.  I am a klutz, can't help it.

Elephants are my favourite wild animal and they always have been.  Keep that in mind for my birthday folks.  And I am not talking about an elephant likeness here....

Dave would make a hot geisha, no?

I got tired pretty quickly, so after about two hours we decided to take off.  Dave is watching for the streetcar while I sat my lazy ass down.

Looks good!  It was worth lugging it around all day.  I just hope that people don't think that naughty things are going down in here when they see the red light out the window.  I don't want any knocks on my door in the middle of the night if you know what I mean...

I bought some sunglasses.  Never mind that the sticker is still on them.  I was concerned with blowing a bubble.

There we go!

Dave bought this hat in four different colours.  He had been searching for this very style all over the city forever, and could not find it anywhere.  Told you Kensington was good for that kind of thing.  Yeah bitches.

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!  Portal 2 and a very GENTLE workout is calling me today.  Sayonara!
