Dave has spent the entire weekend at the FanExpo (seriously nerds, check it out if you haven't before. P.S-check out the horror schedule for Sunday, Android Re-Enactment is playing!), so I have had to entertain myself. Which is never a problem. Here is the thing: I NEVER GET BORED. Ever. Books, video games, movies...
But yesterday? OMG I was effing bored!! I think it was just my mood, because everything Dave suggested I do to keep myself occupied, I responded with a pouty-lipped "Hmph. No!". I am kidding, sort of. I have flipped from the kind of girl who couldn't wait for the weekend to come so I could sit in my pjs all weekend and do NOTHING. I can't be that way anymore. I need to make use of every single second of my weekends, and go on adventures.
That's supposed to be like, "I see dead people", from the Sixth Sense. Ugh. I am not funny. I know.
It's been a SLOOOOOW week in bloggieville. Sorry about that. Insert whatever you think may be wrong with me here........and sure, that's what it is.
I have been a tired sack of shit. That is what's really wrong. My own fault. Very much so. I am a child who doesn't want to go to bed, who needs one more drink of water, who REALLY has to pee this time. So yeah....tired sack.
Which is going to get me in big shit at work, because I am late EVERYDAY. Not like, 5 minutes late. More like half an hour to an hour late. I was improving for a while there because a few weeks ago I got in serious shit for the same problem. Now, I am back to being a delinquent. Sigh....some people aren't cut out for desk jobs you know? I may be late everyday, but I stay for my 8 hours and I am exceptional at my job...so cut me some fucking slack. Frigging suits.
Anyway, this is me making love to my tea. I hate the term 'making love'. It's so gross and perverted.
Bright colours make me happy. So that's what I surrounded myself with today. Not only was I sad about Jack Layton's passing, but there are other things going on. You know, life. And sometimes life is incredibly sad.
But if there is one great thing about the human spirit, is that it keeps on keeping on...
So tell people how much you love them when they are here, ok? And remember to smile...even if you don't feel like it. One day you will, and you don't want to be out of practice. Then you will look all awkward and lopsided.
Look at that bright blue sky! I fear these days are numbered.
With Winter coming and all. What did you think I meant? I am not THAT melodramatic!
Today is a sad day for Canada. Jack Layton, leader of the New Democratic Party, lost his battle with cancer. I am not going to bore anyone with politics and what he stood for, I'm just going to leave you with this quote:
"My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world." - Jack Layton
Words to live by.
Also, this song has been floating through my head all day.
It was wonderful to wander around this place while it was pouring rain outside. People work and study here and there was a nice feeling of happy busyness. Someone was practicing piano elsewhere in the building and you could hear it throughout. Such a lovely place.
This past Monday, I had an appointment at the hospital for my 4 times a year check up with my hematologist. No biggie, just a standard check in. I have a wonky blood disease thing going on (have had it since birth, hereditary shit, THANKS DAD, brother has it too), and I just have to make sure all my levels are, well...level.
I had to go to work for a few hours before hand, and then rush off downtown to make sure that all was well in this here bod. Of course, Dave being the sweet gentleman that he is, came with me to my appointment, even though he really doesn't like hospitals.
Since I deemed 2011 as 'The Year of Me', I have been pushing myself to embrace this and focus on myself more. Sounds selfish, I know. I feel selfish sometimes. But I also think that once you have been in a relationship for a long time, some people lose their identity and you become more of 'a couple' and no longer an individual. In a lot of ways, I love being a couple. But in other ways, I like being me, and doing things JUST for me. Stuff that I would do for myself when I was single, and not always thinking of the 'other half'. It's important. Some may call it selfish. I call it NECESSARY.
And this is why I have been going out more with friends, and being silly and buying too much nail polish and FAR too much jewellery. Because these are things that make me feel as if I am spoiling myself, and it makes me happy!
Like sitting on rooftop patios and drinking beer at sunset with amazing friends. What's not to love about this scenario?
I don't know if you guys know this about me, but I am ALLLL about keeping fit in fun ways. My number one way to do that? Walking. Dave and I will choose a destination in the city, one we have never been to before, and we will EXPLORE. Just that word conjures up such a sense of adventure for me that I am getting excited about what I am about to tell you!
GPSmyCity.com asked me if I would collaborate with them on a fun giveaway, and after doing a bit of research, and checking out their iPhone app myself, I was hooked!!
GPSmyCity is all about self-guided walking tours of over 470 cities worldwide. Sometimes you don't need a tour guide when you visit a new city, you just need to know where to go to create your own experience. The best part is that once you have the app, it works offline so that you aren't charged any ridiculous roaming fees while in other countries.
Check out these awesome screenshots:
Doesn't it look fun? And EASY!! I love the way this app looks and reads. They even have audio!
What could you win, you ask? You could win your choice of THREE GPSmycity.com iPhone applications! All you have to do is copy and paste the quiz below into an email message, answer the quiz questions, and send to firstname.lastname@example.org. They will take care of the rest!
Pretty cool huh? An amazing way to discover brand new cities throughout the world...or fall in love again with your own.
Come on!!! Do a little research...what else are you doing right now?? (Hint...Google is GREAT at answering questions)

So I left off at the drive-in. A long time ago. I haven't posted anything in a while because I have been super sick, and my best friend visited. So instead of a shit show, it was a snot show. Which is a few steps under a shit show, but still a little too much for a sick person to handle. I held in there though.
