GTA IV: Back to the Future Mod

For all you video game nerds out there.  For everyone else, I apologize! But really, if you love the Back to the Future movies as much as I do, you might get a kick out of this too.

How did I not know this existed when I played GTA IV?  Why didn't any of you guys TELL me?  And you are supposed to be my friends...pssshhhh....

Anyway, here it is for your enjoyment.  I just may have to go back and play this.

Mish Mash, Hodge Podge, Whatever.

It's another one of those posts folks. One where I had random pictures that I couldn't really fit a story to, so you get a post that's all OVAH the place!

Starting with the bod of my dad.  He has been surviving his heart surgery well.  He lost a lot of weight afterwards, and lost his tan, but other than that he is doing great! My mom 'let' him cut the lawn last week, and he has been walking the dogs, so this is all amazing news.

Happy Blogiversary

Hey there friends and neighbours!  How is everyone on this beautiful Sunday evening in August?  Myself, I am great.  Today is the 4 year anniversary of this little old blog! Crazy how time flies and how much things change.  This blog went from me writing about my life as it was in the past, to me showing you my life as I live it in the present. I have always said that this journal is my life as I live it, and when I turn 90 it will be something for me to flip through and remember all those little (as well as big) moments I have experienced throughout the years.

So happy blogiversary to me!

Now lets get on with it shall we?

Much Needed

Had a really good weekend, full of good friends (the best) and food.  You can't really go wrong there.

My bestfriendforever Ciara came to visit, and it had been a while since I had the excitement/ pleasure/ soul cleanse of her presence. I know that didn't make sense, shut up.  She came over and crashed at my place on Friday night, I made sure to set up a nice cozy bed for her. Because when I go and visit people that's all I want.  My own space, and a cozy bed.  Not a couch, not an air mattress on the floor, a space for myself.  I guess that means I am a grown up, because gone are the days of me crashing out on someone's floor, no sir. Too old for that shit.

We went out for dinner, with my sister and Dave, and it was a lovely experience of eating and drinking for a few hours.  I love the long meal linger over wine talk. I don't do it nearly enough. I think this is why I have started ordering coffee (decaf) after meals out because I want to extend the time to just sit there and talk.

In the early afternoon morning on Saturday, we went for brunch, invited my sister out again, to which she complained afterwards every second about the meal and how it wasn't good and how expensive it was. Because I made it and charged her for it.  That's my sister though. Oddly enough, we got into a bit of a fight about the whole complaining thing on Saturday, which I am not sure why it even turned into one. I was explaining how I am a born complainer but I did some work on myself to try and be a more positive person, because no one likes a complainer. And even though my initial urge is to vent all over the place about things that bother me, I just don't. The old adage of "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all", you know? Especially about things you can't change. And then she reacted in the only way she knows how, to hit below the belt and say something mean.  I don't know why she chose to get so defensive about something so insignificant.  Especially because I am her sister and I would never do or say anything to intentionally hurt her feelings.  I am not like that.

Anyway, moving on from family bullshit drama. The rest of the weekend was awesome, with Dave and I just chilling out on the sofa watching movies.  The past few nights here have been borderline chilly, and I am not minding it in the least. I think I am ready for Fall. I have been making myself a hot drink at work lately in the afternoons, which is my normal winter behavior.  Tonight I am excited to go home and make myself some soup. Now don't be fooled people, the temperature right now feels like 31C (87F).  Maybe it's just the Canadian in me getting a head start on the mental preparation needed before winter begins. Not that I am complaining....I am a winter girl at heart.

Other than that, not much else happened. There was plenty of couch lying, ice cream eating, yummy dinners made and general relaxation.

It was much needed.

Up To No Good: Abandoned House Edition

It's that time again!  Time to watch my fat ass disappear through a window into another abandoned house.  This one, I will call the FORTRESS.

My sister and I have tried and tried, to no avail (three times now!) to get into this house.  I am starting to think it's a sign for us to STAY OUT.  What do you guys think?

Wants: August 9th 2012

Any rich old dudes out there who want to buy a young girl a gift?  I am offering nothing in return, not even my company. Probably not even my real address either, just some random shipping one. Any takers?

I am not even going to tell you how much this purse costs, but for the ladies (and possibly gents) who own or covet one of these, YOU KNOW. About the cost of a year's worth of food for some.

These boots though, at $268, are a little more affordable. And are going to be in my arms in a week or two.  They are Frye boots and I have been wanting a pair for two years now, I just could never afford them.  I still can't, but fuck it! You only live once right?
Will anyone ever sponsor me one of these days? Like, for anything?

Night Swimming

So I have been waking up at the same time every night.  Just call me Ronald Defeo.  No I am not having crazy thoughts of mass murder.  Thank god right!

It started a month ago, around the same time that my dad went into surgery. Gah, my parents in general. I have so much anxiety surrounding those two. There are just a lot of things going on that make me stressed out for them, even though I shouldn't feel that way. It's just life stuff.  Stuff that they can handle as they have been through way worse and are the wisest people I know when it comes to life shit. But somewhere along this ride I feel like I have turned into the parent.  Not because they aren't taking care of themselves or anything like that, but I tend to worry about them a lot. I am guessing this is normal? I mean, as normal as stuff like this can get?

Who knew that all the worrying would be turned back on you? Is this the payback we get for making them worry about us?

Anyway, I have been waking up at 3:30AM and then again at 5:30AM EVERY NIGHT.  I wish I was joking and/ or exaggerating. So my initial thoughts were that it was just anxiety. Even though I don't feel super anxious throughout my day, I KNOW that that shit wreaks havoc on your mind while asleep. But then I came across this:
It is a Chinese medicine Meridian clock.  And if you look at the times I am waking up each night, it's because I have to take a leak.

True though.  I DO need to empty my overflowing bladder when I wake up.  I just don't.  I hold it and squinch my eyes shut and try to get back to sleep.  No more, no more.  I WILL get up and use the washroom like a normal human being. Or I will cut down on my water intake.  I tend to drink between 10-12 cups a day. It does coincide with when I upped my intake!

I will keep you all updated on the piss situation. Hopefully cutting back solves it!

In other news, I am tired. Bet you didn't know THAT little tidbit.

Bad Religion + NXNE = THE SHIT!

So back sometime in June, I can't even remember anymore, I went to NXNE to see a few bands play that I love. North by Northeast is a festival of 800 bands in 7 days, playing in small venues all around the city.  Pretty awesome, and they always have free shows at Yonge-Dundas Square. On the roster this year were No Use For A Name, Good Riddance, and Bad Religion.  All punk bands I grew up with...and FREE! Huzzah!
