Up To No Good: The House That Won, or, The Fortress

This house again. The house we were never able to get into. It defeated us. It won.

Check out our many attempts to get in here. And here. And there is a boat on the property that we explored here

This house was on the way to my parents' old house. They just recently moved, so we will never have a chance to get in here ever now. We have been trying diligently for 2 years.  It really is a fortress.

Hey there crazy hair.

This just recently happened. It's starting to crumble and fall apart. The locks on the doors are strong ones...we were hoping that the house would fall down a bit around the door, and we could get in that way.

Poor bird.

What I don't get is WHO THE HELL is taking care of keeping this place locked up tight? When we were able to get into the little garage in the back, we knocked out a few panes of glass and opened a window. The next time we went, someone had covered all the windows in thick plastic. WHY? And WHO? This place is in the middle of nowhere.

Oh well. It just adds to the mystery of it I guess. Now I am always going to think that something terrible happened there and that there is an urban legend surrounding it about a girl, a boy, and a crazy maniac with a scythe. Yup. That's probably what happened. Or Bloody Mary lives here. Eeekkk! I am 33-years-old and Bloody Mary still scares me.

I hope you have a nice rest of your life, rotting away into nothing, house. We won't see you next time.

The end. Goodbye Fortress!

The Days Are Getting Shorter

It's getting to be that time again...the days are getting shorter, and shadows are getting longer.

I can't say that I am not excited for Fall. As a lover of all seasons, I appreciate the change. The beginning of things is always exciting.

Not sad to see the end of t-shirts. I love my sweaters and Fall jackets.

I also love my sisters' place. So cozy!

Haha. Yup.

Hair is getting super long!

Dave and I have been talking a lot lately about where we want our lives to go. As two people who are VERY go with the flow and just see what happens, it most likely will end up just being talk. It's nice to do, to dream. But we are not doers, we are two people who fly by the seat of our pants. We want things in this life, like buying our own house one day, a car (I personally want a GIANT effing closet for once), and these things will happen eventually, we are just not planners. Which is either incredibly stupid, or genius. We'll see how that goes.

We did go to Guelph this past weekend to check out the scenery. I have always seen myself ending up in Guelph (like, when I am 60 and I have given up on life). We will never get ahead living in Toronto. Our dream of buying a house will NEVER happen here. It's too bloody expensive. Besides, I don't want to live in the city forever. Just not ready to leave yet.

It was nice in Guelph, but there was no real charm. We were only there for the day so maybe if we hung out there a little more I would change my mind. I liked the outskirts, where it was more country-like than 'city'. I have always said that if I move out of Toronto towards a small town, I want to be more in the country than the town/ city itself. Why would I leave THE city to live in a lamer city? (Sorry, that's my Toronto snob coming out).

The fact that there is a giant Catholic church smack in the middle of town is a bit strange no? I mean, it's a university many people actually go to church here? Maybe all the old people. There were only two kinds of people in Guelph; young students or really old people. No inbetweeners.

It was very pretty inside though. If I was still a 'Catholic' (in my head and heart I never was), I would have liked going to Christmas mass here. I imagine there is a choir. Choirs rock.

You can take the girl out of the party, but you can't take the party out of the girl.

Bye Guelph. See you next time!

Now on to salted caramel hot chocolates from Starbucks. Yussss!

One loser thing that I really really enjoy doing is seeking out all things Halloween (and Christmas) in big box stores (Wal-Mart, Canadian Tire, etc). Every year it happens earlier and earlier AND I AM OK WITH THIS. In fact, you can just keep the Halloween and Christmas shit out all year round. Let's cut to the chase, you know you want to! I see no problem with it.

Haha's like looking in a mirror isn't it? Just kidding!

There is a storm coming tonight. Kind of a big one. Lots of rain, and it is bringing in the cooler weather. Tonight is about tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches, and staying dry and warm inside.

What is everyone up to on this last weekend of summer?

Up To No Good: The Places We Couldn't Get Into

Let's take a walk down memory lane shall we? Abandoned creepy memory lane!

So, in all the places we find and explore, not all of them are winners. Some, no matter how hard we try, we cannot get into. They are boarded up or locked up tight.

Some people go to great lengths to keep prying eyes and camera lenses out. Why? Who knows....maybe because they are no fun!! Or maybe a truly ominous event occurred....

Fort Knox. We don't like to cause damage. If a door is locked but juuust about to fall over somehow, we may help it along, but other than that, no broken windows or anything like that. RIGHT KRISTA?

I was SUUUUPER excited about this one too. But it was locked up tight and the windows were screwed shut.

I mean, I get why people want to preserve something. Otherwise this kind of shit happens. People like to destroy things and ruin it for the rest of us.

Crazy falling apart piano on the porch.

Pretty much out in the middle of nowhere.

Oh hello there.

Still sad that we couldn't get in here. Clearly their precautions of keeping people out came too late. Must be why they stepped up security.

Save it!

This house was funny because we slowly made our way around the perimeter, like we always do. Seeing what we can see before we go in.

And it was actually someone's house. HAHA! Oops. Another downfall of exploring....unless you can REALLY tell if a place is abandoned, who knows?

Keep exploring everyone!
