Weekend Warriors

Well hey there friends and neighbors.  So I am jobless again. Yup. Just like that.  But it's ok, and I am ok.  I really grew to hate that job.  It was the most un-challenging, un-stimulating job I have ever worked.  So it's a bit of a blessing in disguise. On to the next!

This weekend was a good mix of lazy and busy.  It was so super hot this weekend that it took a bit of acclimatization to get used to it, but once you were ok with being a sweaty beast just standing outside, than all is well.

Speaking of beasts, this one sure does love her food.

After a full day on Saturday of movies and lounging, this guy convinced me to go and get some ice cream.

And ice cream we got.

Along with a little bit of immaturity in the park.

Sunday, despite the rising temperatures (36C with the humidity) we decided to go for a walk for some coffee and to check on my friends cat.  This required a bathing suit top underneath a tank top.  Yes, I am 34-years-old and dressing like a teenager.  Too hot.

Happy Pride! I hope everyone had a safe and fun week!

I was melted at this point.  And we had just started on our journey.

Sweet nectar of the gods.

Dave was cranky today and I kept calling him out on it which made me laugh a lot.

Cat checked on.

His and hers.

It was too hot to cook so we went to our new spot.

Melted.

This helped.

I hope you all had a great weekend! Tomorrow, it's all about the job hunt.  Can't wait!

Summer Posts: A Recap

To keep up with my Summer theme, I have gone ahead and put together a roundup up of Summer posts from over the years on this blog.  We tend to try and have as many summertime adventures as we can, and I have put them all in one place for you! What a sweetheart I am! Enjoy!

A Summer List

I am on a Summer kick since it's the beginning of Summer! Summertime is all about long drives, sunshine, and green! Lots of green! So in homage to to the warmest months, here are my top ten favorite things about Summer!

1.  Ice Cream- I want to eat all the ice cream in the world...all the time.

2.  Barbecues- forget cooking inside...too hot!! Meat over a fire is the best way to eat it ever (sorry vegetarians, I love you guys!)

3.  Green grass- it's like a soft carpet that I want to lie on....even if it does make me sneeze! I love the sight of a beautiful bed of grass.

4.  Summer naps- all that heat and running around and playing? Yes, summertime calls for afternoon naps on Sundays (and any day...).

5.  The beach- since it gets to pretty tropical temperatures here, lying on a beach in the heat only to jump in the freezing cold waters of a lake is pretty heavenly.  If you are brave you jump right in...I do it the hard way and go in slow!

6. Summer fruit- there is nothing better in the world to me than summer fruit.  So many colors, so many flavors, and just plain delicious.

7.  Beer on a patio- no explanation necessary.

8.  Campfires- S'mores and roasting marshmallows anyone?  Sitting around a campfire with the ones you love is pretty close to being 'it' for me.  It really is the best. Plus, it keeps the mosquitoes away! (sort of).

9.  Sunshine and heat- I will admit that the first few days of 30+ degree weather kind of kills me.  But once I have acclimatized to it, I don't mind it at all.  Toronto gets a lot of heat alerts in the Summertime, so you can imagine just how hot it gets! (I know it's not as hot as other places in the world!).

10. Plenty of walking- It seems like all I do is walk when summer comes around. It is the most enjoyable form of exercise for me.  Except on those days when it feels like 40C, on those days it's all about staying inside with a very cold drink, and taking a nap.  See # 4 above.

What do you love most about the Summer time?

My Week in Photos

This week was fairly fruitful (I really did eat a ton of summer fruit this week, so pun intended), and it all started with a little positive thinking. I had to pass this every morning on my way out the door and just this little reminder made me do my best to have an excellent week!

We had our first major thunderstorm in Toronto this week.  It was pretty scary looking, and the skies opened up while we were a minute from home. We ran like the dickens and weren't quite drowned rats in that minute we got caught in the downpour. It was nice to get inside and dry off and enjoy the storm from the safety of home.

This is part of my every night ritual.  She LOVES her cuddle time in bed before we all drift off to sleep. I can't imagine my nights when this one decides to leave us (hopefully not for a long time!)

The meeting rooms at my work (called Sunrooms) are so gorgeous right now, what with their almost 360 degree views that I just had to take a picture. I was on the top floor this past week and thought that being above the trees was pretty cool.

The grounds of my work are pretty decent as well. Twenty-seven acres of woods and rivers and flowers and grass.  I'm a lucky girl.

And a rooftop garden.

Which I thoroughly enjoy everyday.

This past Friday night and into Saturday afternoon I got to look after my friends' dog.  She is the sweetest dog I have ever met and I hope I am asked to look after her again sometime.

Fun at the dog park.  For all of us!

My wisteria has root rot, I believe because I over watered it.  I had to dig up the thick roots and trim back the ones that were rotting.  I replanted in a better draining pot and I have my fingers crossed that it comes back!! I love that plant!

Barbecuing on the deck is a staple at this time of year.

With some beer of course.

Summer fruit is back! I dream about this all winter and I always buy too early and they are dull and lifeless.  And then one day we get a batch that are the best tasting strawberries ever, and I know that summer is really here.

Just hanging out, enjoying the outside world.

Coffee on the deck in the morning is definitely a luxury that I appreciate.

Especially with that view.

Afternoon snacks of avocado and cottage cheese is a new discovery I have fallen for.  So good!

Homemade ice cream with just strawberries, bananas and a little bit of coconut milk is a treat.  Especially when it's freaking hot like it was today!

Tonight is all about relaxing on the couch with my love, watching a movie, and mentally preparing for the work week ahead.  One week until I am on vacation woohoo!

I hope you all had an excellent week yourselves and that the upcoming one is even better.
