Hi.

I like to write about whatever comes to my mind. Whether that is visiting an abandoned house, or reading a good book, I like to talk. So, chat with me here about what you like! And welcome.

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

I am reading the 1974 classic 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance', by Robert M. Pirsig. He writes of a man taking a journey on his motorcycle, across the United States. The book is written to reflect the man's philosophical thoughts while he is on his journey.

One of the first philosophical ideas he throws out there is about classical and romantic ways of thinking. Romantic thinkers always see the outside picture: they look at a rose and only see how beautiful it is, while classical thinkers see the rose and want to know what is inside of it, how it grew, how many layers.

So now all I do when I am lying in bed at night is think of the way that I think (definitely a romantic thinker), and how others around me think, and how we interact on a regular basis because of it. It makes me want to delve into my own and others' psyches.

Anyway, read the book, its really good.
