Hi.

I like to write about whatever comes to my mind. Whether that is visiting an abandoned house, or reading a good book, I like to talk. So, chat with me here about what you like! And welcome.

Up To No Good: Abandoned House Edition-The Murder House

***WARNING: THIS POST CONTAINS 2 PHOTOS OF DEAD ANIMALS, ONE UP CLOSE OF A SKELETON. THESE ANIMALS WERE LEFT CHAINED AND LOCKED AWAY TO DIE, WHILE THE OWNERS ABANDONED THEIR HOME. DO NOT PROCEED WITH THIS POST IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO SEE THIS***

Hello my lovely explorer friends. We have a doozy today with this one. My family went away last September to a cottage, and of course being in a new place, we had to keep our eyes peeled for anything abandoned. And we were not disappointed.

Set way back off the road, Krista spotted this place and suggested we go in. And of course I was game! But, we had Dave with us. He hates when my sister and I go into abandoned houses, and he refuses to go in them with me when I see one on our many drives. But I guess on this day he was feeling brave, plus he says, there are strength in numbers. So first order of business, a perimeter walk to try and find a way in.

There weren’t any obvious ones, so we may have asked this locked door, respectfully, to please open for us. And by golly it did! Haha.

Oops.

The first thing I saw when the door opened, was the empty bags of dog food. And one of us had said something along the lines of “there better not be any dead animals in this house”. How foreshadowing.

I went in first. And as I am looking around and taking photos, it took a while for my eyes to adjust to the dim. And then I looked down and saw a huge pile of fur. Nothing else, just the fur. And then I panicked because I was sure it was a dog. My brain put the open giant bag of dog food that was scattered on the floor, to the pile of fur at my feet, and well, you can guess the conclusion I came to. I did not post a close up of this one, but you can see in the lower right corner of the photo below, the fur.

I then noticed that there was a chain coming out from under all the fur, and followed it to find this. The dog was chained up. INTENTIONALLY. With food scattered around it because it’s people were not coming back. To say that this goddamn house and it’s poor last inhabitants (not the humans in case you needed clarification) haunted me, and still does, is an understatement.

Everything was left in this house. Almost as if the people who lived here (looked like a mom and her young daughter), had to just up and leave. There were 3 or 4 fridges grouped together in that tiny room, and all the food had been left in them to rot. Including a half eaten can of something with the spoon still in it. Maybe I have a mean heart, but that is still ZERO excuse for what was done to those animals. I don’t care. There are so many other options than chaining them up, or locking them in a bedroom to die.

The notes that you see stuck on the shelves were not recipes, they were quotes from the bible. And these were all over the place in that kitchen. It was just all strange and eerie.

As I’ve said many times before on abandoned house posts, I often wonder under what circumstances people just up and leave their home. I am sure there are many and I am lucky to never have been in that position. But doesn’t it make you wonder? Like there was ZERO time to gather some belongings? I don’t get it.

The kid’s room. Again, it’s sad that he/she wasn’t able to bring toys even. Maybe they did, who knows. Obviously I have no idea what happened here, but this house was locked up tight (ignore that haha), there were no signs of vandalism, nothing like that. This house was well-hidden from the road and had no broken windows or anything…so why is it trashed?

This door was pulled closed. I just had a feeling, that I did not want to open it and see what was inside. And holy shit I was right. REMEMBER MY WARNING.

At first I did not see the pile of fur at my feet. At first I was looking at the bed, and wondering if there was a dead person in it, because there were blankets and stuff piled and I think the shock of seeing that dog had me seeing things. I did notice that there was cat shit everywhere. All over the bed, the floor. And then, I saw why.

NEXT PHOTO CAT SKELETON.

What in the actual fuck. I am getting just as upset all over again.

Required bathroom mirror selfie.

After leaving the death chamber (yeah I’m being dramatic I don’t care), we went downstairs and someone had the bright idea to open one of the fridges. Can’t back down from a dare. THE SMELL. As you would expect. I gagged, and it takes a lot for me to gag (don’t make a joke Katherine, don’t make a joke. Be mature). It was….bad.

So there you have it. A house that still bothers me to this day. I suppose it was inevitable that we would find something horrible one of these days, but I wish it wasn’t this. Maybe I need to be careful what I wish for.

What do you think about this one folks?
